Birdlife at Lara Station Wetlands, Barcaldine, QLD

Lara Homestead Wetlands Bush Campground

Between Barcaldine and Blackall on the Landsborough Highway in Queensland, nature has created a swamp full of drowned ghost gums trees and home to over 100 species of birds. A photographers/birders paradise. The wetlands is only knee deep and is a bush camping ground on a cattle station and is fed by an artesian bore.

We visited late Autumn and mid-week and the campground was really quiet. Being self-sufficient with power and water we camped on the opposite side of the lake to the amenities and enjoyed our peace and serenity.
