We were lucky enough to be on the side of the ship that could watch the sunrise over the Bay of Islands. The sky lit up and silhouetted the land as we sailed into the bay.

Departing from Paiha Wharf, we took the three hour Hole in the Rock tour. Which took us around the islands. We watched for quite some time as a pod of dolphins played in the slipstream of another boat and came quite close to us.

To get to the Hole in the Rock, we had to cross some very rough seas and it was a very rough trip. I stayed outside so that I wouldn’t feel ill, but to compensate I got wet.
We could book the cruise from the Tourist information centre and the cost at time of writing is $88 AU

The sublime and the ridiculous. The old sailing ship is dwarfed by the modern Ovation of the Seas. Imagine crossing the Atlantic Ocean in the old sailing ship.
